Phishing is a practice consisting on acquiring sensitive information about Internet user, such as password or credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy person who needs them.
The name of the person practicing such kind of fraud is phisher. By sending spam to his potential victims with message saying that they have to verify their account he refers to the link which appears to be authentic bank website. In fact, he uses this information for his own profit.
Another method of phishing is to catch personal data by creating the websites which have almost the same address, for ex. www.bla-bla.com instate of www.bla_bla.com and they are similar to the original website of a bank. For inexperienced persons it’s very easy to make a mistake.
In Poland, the children over 13 years old can conclude the contracts other then the simple life acts with parent’s or minder’s permission/approval. In this way, with adult’s help the youth can open the account which can be controlled by himself. Young person has an access to the internet transactions, can control his own expenses via phone or mobile phone. Simultaneously, the young person becomes one of the potential phishing victims when unconsciously gives his personal data or code to the “fictitious/false bank”.
Remember! Phishing is used by phishers as a gainful source. You lost, he earns!
